LP Planning were instructed by Brock & Grace Distillery Ltd to prepare and submit a planning application for the change of use of land and buildings to a micro-distillery. The site, a former farm comprising several agricultural buildings, presented complexities arising from earlier applications, which had imposed restrictive conditions relating to use classes and HGV loading limits. LP Planning carefully managed the process to overturn these restrictions and secure permission for the site’s new use as a craft whisky business.
The application was sensitively framed to reflect the specific nature of the enterprise, placing emphasis on the applicant’s commitment to supporting the local rural economy through the use of locally sourced raw materials. Particular attention was given to traffic and highways matters, in light of the existing restrictions attached to the site.
Through detailed preparation and proactive engagement during the planning process, LP Planning successfully obtained permission for the change of use. Following the discharge of conditions, the site is now operating as a micro-distillery.
